Wind turbines: Not always right for a neighborhood

On Behalf of | Mar 20, 2020 | Uncategorized |

One amazing piece of equipment that may be coming to a neighborhood near you is a wind turbine. This exciting technology can be used to provide power to entire city blocks, but there are some potential problems. These turbines aren’t always nice to look at, and they can pose some very real hazards.

One of the first things that people don’t always like about wind turbines is that they can be an eyesore. They aren’t particularly nice to look at, and they do take up a lot of space.

Another big risk is that they can threaten wildlife and people. Imagine what would happen if the turbine’s propeller snapped off or if a plane accidentally got too close to the spinning turbine. In the past, it’s been seen that wind turbines can lead to avian deaths, with up to 440,000 birds killed by the spinning blades.

Perhaps another reason that many people don’t like them is that they are noisy. While newer models have been built to reduce noise pollution, people who live near wind farms may have to listen to louder, older models.

Today’s wind turbines come in different colors and look sleek, which is beneficial in terms of aesthetics, but there are many issues to think about before allowing one to be built.

Many people face the risk of having turbines built near their homes. That’s why it’s important for you to know what to do if one may be built, and you want to stop it. You do get to have a say when there are people looking to build wind turbines near your home. There may be steps that you and your neighbors can take to prevent the turbine from being built.
